Persona Dental - Sartell MN Dentist

Before and Afters of a recent case

This patient received two new bridges on his front teeth.  The bridges he had were fitting poorly with open margins that were starting to decay.  The incisal edges of the previous bridges did not line up well, the shade was too bright for the patient and the teeth just didn’t look very life-like.  In two appointments we were able to provide a great service to this patient by creating a much healthier smile that was also more esthetically pleasing!

What exactly is a bridge?

Dental-Bridge_1

A bridge is used to replace a missing tooth.  It crowns the two adjacent teeth and bridges a false tooth in between.   A bridge can be a great alternative to an implant especially if:

You are not a candidate for implants due to health or other reasons

The two adjacent teeth have existing crowns that need to be replaced

There is a current bridge in place that needs to be replaced

The two adjacent teeth would benefit from being crowned

Time constraints limit your ability to restore with implants

Why are my teeth so sensitive?

Why are my teeth so sensitive?

Gum disease is a very common problem we see in patients.  Some patients have mild gingivitis that can be corrected with proper brushing and flossing.  Others experience more complicated problems such as gum recession and bone loss.  It is very common with gum recession to experience mild to severe tooth sensitivity.

 Mild gum recession:

Even with mild gum recession the sensitivity can be very bothersome

Severe gum recession:

Most patients are not aware that they have gum recession.  If you are experiencing sensitivity on your teeth its very important to schedule an appointment to get your teeth and gums evaluated.  Persona Dental 320-251-2972.

What should I do If I fall down and loosen or knock out my teeth?

People have accidents, especially the  elderly or athletes.   Its also more common this time of year with all of the snow and ice that can accumulate on sidewalks.  If you fall and hit your front teeth, its important to give us a call right away, especially if the tooth has been knocked out. One of our dentists will examine your teeth and take any necessary x-rays. Loose teeth can have fractures, or can be moved into a different position, both of which conditions require treatment. Also some patients can have jaw fractures which require prompt treatment as well.

If an accident occurs and any teeth have been knocked out completely please call us first before visiting an emergency room as long as no other life threatening injuries have taken place.  This is important because some teeth can be re-implanted and saved if treatment is started quickly.   If there are any cuts on the face or lips that might require stitches and no teeth have been knocked out, a visit to the emergency room should probably be completed first before calling our office.

It may be necessary to bond the loose teeth together to help splint them until they firm up  again. Also if a jaw fracture is diagnosed, a trip to an oral specialist could be required.  Although a general dentist may diagnose a fractured jaw, most end up referring patients with a possible fractured jaw to  an oral surgeon since they  are usually the most qualified to provide treatment for jaw fractures.
